Marinara sauce is a tomato-based sauce served with pasta that contains other key ingredients such as garlic, olive oil and fresh herbs. The sauce can be prepared in around 15 to 30 minutes, although if you can make it ahead the day before you are planning on serving it. Once cooked your marinara sauce, it can be served immediately or stored for up to 5 days in the refrigerator or you can freeze it well until needed.
Marinara Sauce Recipe [makes about 5 cups]
inspired from Veganomicon
- 2 tsp olive oil
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 big can (about 800gm/28 oz) of crushed tomatoes
- ¼ tsp dried thyme
- ¼ tsp dried oregano
- salt to taste
- freshly ground pepper
Heat oil in medium saucepan and add garlic and sauté for few seconds. You don’t have to burn garlic. Add the all ingredients and cover. Let it simmer about 15 minutes, stirring in between.
Once cooked your marinara sauce, it can be served immediately or stored for up to 5 days in the refrigerator or you can freeze it well until needed. That’s it.
